Forty years ago, Doug and Mary Perkins set out with a simple but bold ambition: make high-quality eyecare accessible to everyone. Today, that mission has grown Specsavers into the world’s largest privately-owned optical group, operating in 12 countries and supported by more than 41,000 colleagues. Their passion for optometry still drives the organisation — and sets the standard for how they communicate with thousands of partners and leaders across the business
The Challenge
Specsavers UK & ROI host a number of high-stakes events to bring their Joint Venture Partners together — none bigger than the annual Specsavers Partnership Seminar at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
It’s a huge moment in the calendar:
- 3,500+ partners in the audience
- a stage built for impact
- and a screen literally the size of a tennis court
For the leaders presenting, the pressure is real. Their messages need to land clearly, confidently, and conversationally — despite the scale. Alongside the main stage, dozens of teams deliver smaller, workshop-style presentations across the two-day event, also requiring clarity, confidence, and consistent communication.
That’s where we come in.
We partner with many of the main-stage speakers and workshop presenters well ahead of the event to refine their delivery, sharpen their message, and ensure their natural style shines through — no matter the size of the room.
Our Approach
Beyond the Seminar, we support teams across the UK throughout the year. Our Presentation Masterclasses and 1:1 coaching programmes help leaders prepare for critical meetings, pitches, and internal events.
Our programmes cover:
- Developing a natural, credible and authoritative communication style
- Delivering with confidence and audience engagement
- Managing nerves and performance pressure
- Structuring content with clarity and impact
- An efficient, repeatable preparation process
- Creating and using visual aids effectively
- Thinking on your feet and responding to the needs of listeners
Results
Working together, presenters gain:
- A clear analysis of their communication strengths and development areas
- The ability to deliver with authority, credibility, and consistency
- Greater confidence and natural presence on stage
- Tools to manage nerves and perform under pressure
- Strong, audience-focused messaging
- A streamlined preparation approach that saves time and supports success
What Specsavers Say
“All the presenters were exceptional, and the narrative was really strong and joined up. You could see the difference your expertise had made on them.”
Peter Bainbridge, Regional Director, Europe
“Sometimes you need something to shock you into a new way of thinking. This was it. Very thought-provoking and liberating.”
Nick Rainbow, Head of Audiology Marketing, UK
